AC cool check completed on three year-old horizontal Carrier system. Drain line has been flushed and treated. Condenser coils have been cleaned. I found that the outdoor torque booster was starting to fail. I presented repair options to the homeowner and they chose to have the repair completed today. I replaced the torque booster and function checked the system. All other mechanical and electrical components of the system are within manufacturer specs. No other major issues were found. The system is cooling properly at time of departure.

Performed A/C tune-up on a Carrier straight cool system. Checked the electrical, mechanical and performance systems of the unit. Replaced the return air filter. Cleared, cleaned, flushed and treated the drain line. Cleaned the exterior of the furnace and washed the outdoor coil. I replaced the high voltage wire nuts with a Wago wire connector. I found that the thermostat screen is fading and is hard to read. I presented repair options to the homeowner. No other issues were found. The system is operational at this time.

AC cool check completed on 2021 horizontal Carrier furnace system. I found a small gas leak in the attic and fixed it. I tested the static pressure, which was .54. I found that the condenser capacitor was below manufacturer specs. I presented repair options to the homeowner and they decided to replace the outdoor capacitor. I completed the repair and function tested the system. All other mechanical and electrical are within manufacturer specs. The system is cooling properly at this time.

I also treated the drain line. Air filters were replaced with client supplied filters. I cleaned the condenser coil. I found the condenser fan motor showed signs of overheating. Options for repair were presented to the homeowner and he chose to have the condenser fan motor replaced and to install surge protectors on the furnace and condenser unit. I replaced the condenser fan motor and installed surge protectors on the furnace and condenser unit. I function tested the system and the system was operational. No other issues were found. The system was running at the completion of service.

I presented repair options to the homeowners, and they chose to have the capacitor and the condenser fan motor replaced. I replaced the capacitor on the condenser unit and the condenser fan motor. I function tested the system and the system was operational. The system was running at the completion of service. No other major issues were found.

Increased the size of the flex duct to front bedroom to 9”. Added a 12x8x9 bucket and grille. Ran the 4” flex that was wyed to the supply plenum. Added a new 9” flex duct with new bucket and grille to the master bedroom. Ran the existing 6” and 9” ducts to the supply plenum. Built and installed a new return plenum with media cabinet inside. Sealed all connections with mastic and hardcast. Testing heating and cooling operation.

Heat check completed on a vertical air handler system. I did find that the static pressure is high and putting unwanted strain on the system components. No other major issues found.

Performed heater tune-up. Checked electrical, mechanical, safety and performance of the system. The filters were replaced with customer supplied filters. The drain line was cleared and treated. No major issues were found, and the system is running at the completion of service.

Heating maintenance completed on 4-year old electric heat system. No major issues found at this time.

Air Duct Cleaning and Sealing: A client reported excessive dust in their home and weak airflow in some rooms. We found that debris and mold growth inside the ducts were restricting airflow. After thoroughly cleaning and sealing the ducts, we improved both air quality and airflow. The homeowner was advised to schedule annual duct maintenance to avoid similar issues.

Performed the heater tune-up on a Carrier gas system. Checked the electrical, mechanical and performance systems of the unit. Cleared, cleaned, flushed and treated the drain line and cleaned the exterior of the furnace. I replaced the high voltage wire nuts with a Wago wire connector. I also replaced the return air filter. I checked the static pressure of the system and found that the fan speed was set to deliver roughly 1800 cfm on a 5-ton system. This air flow is good for this size system, but the total static pressure reading is .83 which is high. No other major issues were found, and the system is operational at this time.

Heating tune-up completed on a two-year-old horizontal furnace. I found that the static pressure on the system is slightly elevated. To resolve this issue, I lowered the fan speed to adjust for the 2.5-ton system. No other major issues were found.

Installed a new bucket in son’s bedroom and sealed it to the drywall. Replaced grille in son’s bathroom. Installed a reducer to go from a new 6” flex duct run to the existing 4” duct. Ran new 8” flex for son’s bedroom. Sealed all connections and installed dampers. Everything is operational at this time.

Completed duct sealing. Sealed all buckets and returns to the drywall from the attic, with the exception of the laundry room, which was already sealed from the inside. Removed satellite plenum and installed sheet metal wyes to increase airflow. Ran new 8” flex duct. Removed wye going to bedrooms and made them into home runs to the supply plenum. Upsized bucket and sealed to the drywall. Verified drain operation.

Air Conditioning System Repairs: While troubleshooting a client’s AC unit, I found a clogged drain line causing water to back up into the system, threatening internal components. I cleared the clog and installed a float switch to prevent future overflows, ensuring the system would function smoothly throughout the autumn season.

Service diagnostic found that the condensate drain line was clogged. Water had backed up into the secondary drain line and tripped the safety switch. Options for repair were presented to the customer, and Mary chose to have the drain line cleared today. I cleared the drain line and tested the drain with two gallons of water. Clear water was observed flowing from the drain line outside the home. I then treated the drain. I function tested the system and the system is now operational.

Heating tune-up completed on a horizontal gas system. I did find that the inducer motor is slightly over amping and brought this to the attention of the homeowner. He is aware and will help us monitor. No other major issues found, and the system is heating properly at this time.

Performed diagnostic on the system and found that the blower motor has failed. I confirmed the motor is receiving a constant 24volts and 120volts from the furnace board. I presented my findings to the homeowner, and he chose to have the motor replaced and also have a surge protector installed on the furnace. I installed the motor and the surge protector at the furnace. I then cycled power at the thermostat. The total furnace static reading is .56 and the airflow is set to 1085 CFM on the 3-ton system. After checking the airflow, I wiped down the furnace as best as I could.

On arrival, the customer stated that the unit stopped working overnight. I began by checking the air filter, and then replaced it with a customer supplied filter. I then examined the evaporator coil and checked the float switch. I found that the float switch has tripped. Went outside to examine the condenser and found a faulty capacitor. Presented the customer with options for repair, and they chose to move forward with the items on the critical repair estimate. After replacing the capacitor, I vacuumed out, flushed and cleared the condensation drain line with CO2. Poured multiple gallons of water and was able to verify proper drainage before treating the drain line with Viper treatment. Cycled the system on cool mode to verify proper operation of unit. The system is cooling at this time.

Performed cooling maintenance on one heat pump system. Checked all electrical mechanical and performance of the system. Cleared and treated the drain line and washed the outdoor coil. I found the system does not have a water safety switch and there is some microbial growth at the air handler. I cleaned the microbial growth as best as I could. At the condenser I secured the compressor wiring to prevent any rub outs. The condenser fan motor is also showing signs of overheating. No other major issues found.
