HVAC Replacement Service in Kyle, TX
Like all major appliances in your home, your HVAC system is made up of countless parts all working in concert to provide your home welcoming comfort. Those parts need to be properly maintained and cared for so you always have the warming heat or refreshing cool you need. But who has the time to do that themselves?
If your AC unit is more than 10-15 years old, replacing it could save you money on energy bills and repair costs. Upgrading to a new, energy-efficient system can improve comfort, reduce maintenance, and lower your electricity usage.
When Should You Replace Your HVAC System?
- Your AC needs frequent, costly repairs.
- Your unit is over 10 years old and struggles to cool your home.
- Energy bills have steadily increased despite regular maintenance.
- Your home has uneven temperatures from room to room.
What Size AC Unit Do You Need?
The right AC size depends on your home’s square footage, insulation, and layout. An oversized unit may cool too quickly without removing humidity, while an undersized unit will struggle to keep up. Our HVAC experts perform a full evaluation to recommend the best system for your home.

If your AC isn’t keeping up with the heat, it might be time for repairs. Common signs your air conditioner needs servicing include:
- Warm air blowing from vents – This could indicate low refrigerant levels or a failing compressor.
- Unusual noises – Grinding, squealing, or rattling sounds could mean parts are loose or worn out.
- High energy bills – If your energy costs are rising, your system may be struggling to run efficiently.
- Frequent cycling – If your AC turns on and off repeatedly, it could be a sign of thermostat issues or restricted airflow.
How Long Does AC Repair Take?
Most AC repairs can be completed within a few hours, depending on the problem. Our team arrives with the tools and parts needed to diagnose and fix issues quickly. If a major repair is needed, we’ll discuss your options and provide transparent pricing before starting any work.
Heating and Cooling Service FAQs
If your air conditioner freezes, follow these steps to get your unit functioning again:
- Turn off the unit from the breaker. This will allow the unit to thaw. FYI, thawing could take an entire day.
- Do not remove the ice by hand to avoid damaging the unit.
- After thawing, dry the coils by turning back on your unit but on the fan setting only. This helps circulate air and dry the coils quickly.
- Turn the AC back on to see if it operates without freezing over.
Homeowners can anticipate paying between $100 - $500 for air conditioner repairs.
A faulty drain pan, loose connections, or worn-out components can lead to costly water damage. Catching minor issues early prevents major headaches down the road.
The cost to replace a heating and cooling system typically ranges from $5,000 to $15,000, depending on factors like the size of the home, system efficiency, and installation requirements.

Performed AC cool check. Checked the electrical, mechanical, safety, and performance of the system. I cleared the condensation drain line and flow tested the drain with water. I also treated the drain line. The air filter was clean and had been recently replaced by the homeowner. I did find that the system does not have a safety float switch install on either the condensation drain line or the secondary pan. The system was running at the completion of service.
During my diagnostic, I found that the coil on the contactor out at the condenser was completely shorted. Because it was shorted the voltage moving through the contactor was too high and the low voltage fuse protecting the circuit had popped. I spoke to the homeowner and she chose to have the contactor replaced. I replaced the contactor. I also secured the high voltage wires from the compressor so they wouldn’t run out on the copper lines inside the condenser. The system is working at completion of service.

Two system cool check was completed. Both drains were flushed and treated. Both outdoor coils were cleaned. All mechanical and electrical components were checked, along with refrigerant levels. On the upstairs condenser, I found the contactor charred and pitted. On the downstairs condenser, I found high in rush amps to the compressor. I recommend installing a soft start to lower the amps. The systems were running at completion of service.

Excellent service! Thank you!
Garner Hearing & AC has serviced existing units & installed a new one in the 20+ years in our home. They have always had a fast response time, their techs are very reliable & thorough. We always sign up yearly for the biannual maintenance inspection which happens summer & winter. Very helpful in catching any issues before they happen! 5 stars, thank you Garner!
Awww, thanks Lacy! You really made our Saturday!
2 years ago Garner promptly responded to our need for AC repair in August (in Texas). The technician thoroughly troubleshot, found and fixed the problem. He explained everything he did and showed me as well. I signed up for a preventative maintenance plan with a visit every 6 months. It is 6 months later and the technician performed a thorough inspection, showed photos of what he did and the condition of the hardware. He spent an hour. Good to know proper maintenance is being done. Great company. It is now 2 years later and everyone who came out has been thorough, pleasant and informative. I highly recommend Garner Heating and Air Conditioning.
