Service diagnostic found that the condensation drain line was clogged. Water had backed up into the safety switch and shut down the system. Options for repair were presented to the homeowner and he chose to have the drain line cleared. I cleared the drain line and flow tested the drain with water. I also treated the drain line. I function tested the system and the system was running at the completion of service.
Service diagnostic found that the upstairs and downstairs systems were not running. I went over the upstairs system and found that the batteries on the thermostat had died and the thermostat was not operating. I replaced the batteries and the upstairs system is now operational. For the downstairs system, I found that the capacitor on the condenser unit had failed. Options for repair were presented to the homeowners. The Runkles chose to have the capacitor replaced today. I replaced the capacitor and the system is now operational. I function tested both systems and both systems were running at the completion of service.
The tech came when he said he would, fully explained everything he would need to do, showed me pictures before and after the work was done. He was very professional, personable, knowledgeable.

After performing the diagnostic, I found that the system was completely empty on R-410A refrigerant. I pressure tested the system and looked for a leak however I could not locate the leak on the indoor or outdoor system. I informed the customer and he said he would just like to add the refrigerant at this time. After recharging the system everything is coming on and cooling at this time. It is my assumption that the lightning could have damaged the refrigerant lines themselves. I can't confirm that without an isolation leak search. The customer wants to wait and see if that's necessary.
