Certain types of repairs will almost certainly be more expensive than the average fix. Replacing a home air compressor, for example, can cost between $1350 and $1800, while installing an evaporator coil can cost between $650 and $1200.
If your air conditioner is getting old, you should start saving for a new one. Air conditioners, unlike furnaces, are frequently subjected to extreme temperatures all year, reducing their life expectancy. Modern air conditioners have a lifespan of 15-20 years, while older air conditioners have a lifespan of 10-12 years.
Your air conditioner should not break down during the summer if you get yearly A/C tune-ups from certified professionals. Many common A/C problems are caused by a lack of maintenance, and having your unit serviced will help to prevent them. HVAC technicians can also detect and repair any problems with your air conditioner before the summer season kicks off. So, if you are performing regular maintenance and still need to call for repairs, it may be time to consider purchasing a replacement.

Performed service diagnostic. Diagnostic found that the drain line was clogged. The blower wheel is also dirty and the capacitor for the blower motor is below value. Options for repair were presented to the customer. He chose to have the drain line cleared and the blower motor capacitor replaced. He also chose to have the blower wheel cleaned. I cleared the drain line and flow tested the drain with two gallons of water. I replaced the blower motor capacitor and cleaned the blower wheel. System was function checked and is running at the time of departure.
