HVAC Service FAQs

Should I repair or replace my air conditioning and heating system?

A few reasons you should replace your air conditioning and heating system rather than repair it in Buda, TX are:

  • Your HVAC system is over 10 years old and breaks down often.
  • Your energy bills have increased.
  • The cost to repair your HVAC system outweighs the cost to replace it.

When your HVAC system becomes ineffective, it will cost you more on energy each month and require multiple repairs. However, if your HVAC system is fairly new, regularly maintained and hasn't required many repairs in the past, you should have it repaired rather than replaced.

How much should HVAC service cost near Buda TX?

An HVAC service should cost around $150-350 in Buda, TX. Having your HVAC serviced is a great way to spot issues before they become more severe. Additionally, regular servicing keeps your HVAC system running more efficiently and extends its service life. The benefits that HVAC maintenance provides greatly outweigh the cost since you save more on energy bills and repair costs.

What is included in a HVAC tune up near Buda TX?

An HVAC tune-up in Buda, TX typically includes:

  • A cleaning of your furnace and AC unit.
  • An inspection and lubrication of your furnace and AC unit’s parts.
  • Minor repairs.

To get the most out of tuning up your HVAC system, you should have your HVAC system tuned up once before summer and once before winter. Getting your HVAC system tuned up before peak seasons allows your HVAC to run more efficiently and require less repairs.

I found the breaker tripped to the outdoor unit. I checked all electrical wiring and verified it was in good shape, then reset the breaker. I did find the compressor was pulling 70 amps on start up out of the rated 63. After further diagnostics, I found the compressor start assist had failed. This was causing the compressor to pull higher amperage which could have been the reason the breaker tripped. Repair options were presented to the homeowner and she chose to have the start assist replaced. I replaced the start assist and cycled power at the thermostat. After replacing the start assist the compressor pulled 58-59 amps on start up. No other issues were found. The system is operational at this time.
