AC cool check was completed on a horizontal heat pump system. The indoor condensation drain line was flushed and treated. Outdoor coils were cleaned. All mechanical and electrical components were checked along with refrigerant. I did find an extreme amount of rust on the evaporator coil and the outdoor contactor is original to the system. The system was cooling at time of departure.

Performed a/c tune-up on a Carrier straight cool system. Checked the electrical, mechanical and performance systems of the unit. Cleared, cleaned, flushed and treated the drain line and cleaned the exterior of the furnace. Secured outdoor compressor wiring and washed the outdoor coil. Return air filter is slightly dirty, recommended having it replaced soon. No other issues were found. The system is operational at this time.

I also treated the drain lines. The air filter was clean and had been recently replaced by the homeowner. The mini split filters were cleaned. The condenser coils were also cleaned. Removed existing supply plenum. Removed and cleaned all supply registers and return grill. Cleaned out the return chase. Removed and cleaned blower wheel/housing. Built and installed new supply plenum, sealed ductwork connections with mastic/hardcast. Cleaned all of the flex duct using the brush beast. Tested operation of system. Everything is working at completion of service.

Installed new heat pump system. Added new filter base and transitioned to existing metal ducting. Replaced outdoor disconnect and laid down new pad. Installed filter drier inside with new SS-2 switch for the condensate. Verified system operation and charged to factory specs. Also cleaned out downstairs condenser and verified charge. Everything is working at completion of install.

The drain line can be cleared with air however with the way it is popped the trap cannot be cleared without blowing the clog/blockage back into the evaporator coil. I also found that the drain line was not glued on one of the connections. I glued the connection together so that the drain line doesn’t leak into the home, All four sides of the air handler are leaking at the supply plenum. I went over what I had found and they said that they will be calling the company who installed the system to handle the repairs. The system was running at the completion of service.

Service diagnostic found the outdoor capacitor had failed on the herm side. I also found the outdoor fan motor is leaking lubricant and could fail in the near future. I recommended replacing the air filter soon since it is dirty and it can cause unwanted stress on the system. I spoke with the homeowner about my findings and she chose to have the outdoor capacitor replaced today. I removed the failed capacitor. Installed and secured the new outdoor capacitor. Tested the drain line with 2 gallons of water and verified it is flowing. Reset power and function tested the system. The system is operational at completion of service.
