Here are the top considerations when choosing a heating and cooling company:

  1. They offer the best solutions for your problem. No matter what problem you are having with your air conditioning system they need to have the best and most efficient solution. They should first listen to your needs and explain how they are going to fix it.
  2. Expertise and Trust: your HVAC system is probably one of the most costly items in your home and you don’t buy one every day. See what your San Marcos neighbors are saying about our 5 Star Services over the last 3 decades.
  3. Free Estimates - they should offer a free estimate on the services that they will be performing. At a minimum, if they do charge a fee to come out, it should be included in the service if you decide to hire them.
  4. Licensing - they need to be a licensed professional. The vast majority of HVAC pros are licensed but just check and make sure before hiring them.
  5. How involved are they in your local community? We’re glad for the opportunity to give back to Hays County for 3 decades. Check out our yearly Gift of Heat community service.

Diagnostics found the heat pump disabled due to two issues. The outdoor defrost control board on the infinity system was replaced without replacing the model chip. I also found the second stage compressor plug not properly seated. The homeowner chose to have the issues repaired today. After repairs were completed, I checked the indoor unit for any issues. I did find the return trunk line essentially smashed open, allowing a massive amount of attic air straight into the air handler. At time of departure, the unit itself is running properly but without ductwork repairs the unit will be very inefficient cooling the house.

Performed a/c tune-up on a Carrier straight cool system. Checked the electrical, mechanical and performance systems of the unit. Cleared, cleaned, flushed and treated the drain line. Replaced all return air filters for the homeowner. I secured the 14x24x1 filter grille. I also adjusted the register box in the back bedroom so the register is able to open and close freely. No other issues were found. The system is operational at this time.

Initial diagnosis found that the high voltage breaker tripped due to an air handler rub out. Once that repair was completed, I continued diagnostics, and I found a low voltage rub out popping low voltage fuse. I repaired that rubout and continued diagnostics. I went to cycle system to verify everything was running properly. At that time, I did find that the outdoor disconnect is faulty, not passing the proper voltage. Once the disconnect was replaced I did check refrigerant at homeowner’s request and found system to be very low on R-410A refrigerant. After adding the proper amount of refrigerant, I did verify the system was cooling before departure.

Service diagnostic found the outdoor fan motor capacitor had failed. This was preventing the fan motor from running and caused the compressor to shut down on a thermal lockout. I also found the outdoor fan motor has a hot spot (rust spot). Spoke with the homeowner and he chose to have the capacitor replaced. I removed both the compressor and fan motor capacitors and used a dual capacitor for both components. After replacing the capacitor, I cycled power at the thermostats and verified the system is operational.

Performed a/c tune-up on a Lennox straight cool zoned system. Checked the electrical, mechanical and performance systems of the unit. Cleared, cleaned, flushed and treated the drain line and cleaned the exterior of the furnace. Secured outdoor compressor wiring and washed the outdoor coil. The indoor coil is not the same tonnage as the outdoor system. This could lead to refrigerant leaks or other problems in the future. Also found the ductwork is causing high pressure on the supply side which is putting more wear and tear on the blower motor and other components. No other issues were found. The system is cooling at completion of service.
