How do I choose an HVAC contractor in San Marcos TX?

Here are the top considerations when choosing a heating and cooling company:

  1. They offer the best solutions for your problem. No matter what problem you are having with your air conditioning system they need to have the best and most efficient solution. They should first listen to your needs and explain how they are going to fix it.
  2. Expertise and Trust: your HVAC system is probably one of the most costly items in your home and you don’t buy one every day. See what your San Marcos neighbors are saying about our 5 Star Services over the last 3 decades.
  3. Free Estimates - they should offer a free estimate on the services that they will be performing. At a minimum, if they do charge a fee to come out, it should be included in the service if you decide to hire them.
  4. Licensing - they need to be a licensed professional. The vast majority of HVAC pros are licensed but just check and make sure before hiring them.
  5. How involved are they in your local community? We’re glad for the opportunity to give back to Hays County for 3 decades. Check out our yearly Gift of Heat community service.

I went over the system (2006) and discovered the following: the defrost control board has failed, the condenser fan motor is the wrong type and is also oily, the contactor is pitted and charred, and the system is low on refrigerant. I brought all of this into the attention of the homeowner and made him a few options. Jesus elected to have me bypass the defrost control board so the system would work. I converted the condenser fan motor from a 4-wire universal fan to a 3-wire fan and I removed the 5mfd capacitor for the universal fan. I also removed a lot of the excess wiring inside the electrical cabinet and the 2 speed fan relay that had been left there. I also wired Y2 together with Y1 at the thermostat because it was previously put into W for some reason. We got the system switched on and everything came on and ran properly. System is in working order at completion of appointment.

Max inspected my old system and gently explained the extensive damage caused by a lightning storm power surge from a few months back. Chase came out and helped me pick the best system for my house. The installation team did a fabulous job installing my new Carrier system. No scratches on the floor, the cat remained safely inside, Jason patiently answered all my questions along the way, Angel leveled the outdoor condenser perfectly, and Ethan explained the new system and thermostat thoroughly. Everything looks great! Thanks, Garner!
