On arrival, I noticed the system short cycling on and off. I checked the emergency water safety switch and found condensate backed up into the primary drain system. I blew out multiple blockages inside the drain system. Flushed drain and treated with drain treatment. Reset the cooling system and inspected all Performance, Mechanical and Safety Systems. Everything is working at this time.
Performed the AC tune-up. Cleared and treated the drain line. Condenser coil clean. I did find the capacitor below value. No other major issues found. On arrival, I inspected the thermostat. I removed the batteries from the thermostat and placed it back on the wall. I went up into the attic and heard an electrical arching noise coming from the air handler breaker disconnect. I turned off high voltage power and inspected the breaker. I found that the breaker had become overheated and melted. Also found the breaker seized up in the off position. Went outside to the main panel and found that the wires were extremely loose inside the air handler breaker. Recommend installing a new high voltage disconnect to the air handler and testing system. Installed new high voltage disconnect, reset the cooling system and tested operations. Inspected all Performance, Mechanical and Safety Systems. Verified everything was operating within manufacture’s specifications for operation. Everything is working at this time.
Performed cooling maintenance on two carrier heat pump systems. Checked electrical, mechanical and performance of the systems. Cleared and treated both drain lines and washed both condensers. I informed the customer that there is something in the attic that has chewed some insulation off the suction line on the main system. I repaired the insulation but advised them to get an exterminator ASAP. No other major issues were found. Both systems are on and running at this time.
Performed diagnostic. I found that the outdoor capacitor has failed on the downstairs system. I also checked the capacitor for the upstairs system, and it is under value. I presented options to repair and the customer chose to have both capacitors replaced at this time. Completed repairs and cycled both thermostats. Both systems are on and running at this time.
Performed diagnostic. I found that the outdoor capacitor has failed on the herm side. I also found that the condenser fan motor is leaking lubricant. I presented the customer with options to repair, and they chose to have the capacitor replaced only. I replaced the capacitor, cycled the thermostat and the system is now working at this time. I also secured the wires coming out of the compressor so they wouldn’t rub out on the copper lines.

Verified everything was operating within the manufacture’s specifications for operation. Outside condenser refrigerant pressures are within range and condenser cleaned. Indoor system drain line cleared and treated and filters changed. Noticed that the outdoor condenser capacitor is below value. Brought my concerns about the capacitor to the homeowner’s attention and they decided to move forward with replacement. Installed new capacitor and check system. System operational at this time.

Performed service diagnostic. Diagnostic found that the condenser fan motor is showing signs of overheating. The air handler in the attic had no signs of electrical damage, no scorch marks or burns. Everything is clean and operational. There is also a UV light inside the air handler. The light is plugged into a 120v electrical outlet and is operational. I did discuss the UV light with the customer and we have decided to unplug the UV light for now to see if that will make the smell dissipate. I let her know that she can simply plug it back in at any time if she chooses. Options for repair were presented to the customer and she chose to have the condenser fan motor replaced today.
